RACHEL WONG

Rachel is an upcoming freelance trombonist from Hong Kong that recently graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Katy Jones, Gary Macphee and Carol Jarvis. Prior to studying in the UK, Rachel achieved her high school diploma from Interlochen Arts Academy under Tom Riccobono in Michigan, USA.

As an avid orchestral player, Rachel has worked with the Hallé Orchestra, Orchestra of Opera North, Manchester Camerata, Factory International, New Sinfonia and Sinfonia Verbum Orchestra as well as side-by-side with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic. 

Over the years, she worked with world renowned artists Marin Alsop, Joann Falletta, Antony Hermus, Jahja Ling, Stephen Bell, Andrew Gourlay, Nikki Iles and Phillip Sparke amongst many others. 

In the Summer of 2020, Rachel has teamed up with her friends and founded the Hong Kong Youth Philharmonia (HKYP), a fully student-led orchestra that aims to provide a platform for local young musicians across various secondary schools and colleges to make music together and create learning opportunities in orchestra administration.
